Convict had diary with 200 Realtor’s Info

One of my friends just tagged me in this story on Facebook and it was such a slap in the face to our profession that I felt I had to do a little more than just re-share it on our SaferAgent Facebook Page

(See the full story here:  http://s.lehighvalleylive.com/mTUclYE)

This man was convicted of attempted rape of a real estate professional in a model home from what I can tell.  But in his truck they found ropes, chains, guns, and duct tape.  They also found his diary and computer with very specific plans for his victim that he had been working on for 5 months.  They also found a list of over 200 Realtors he had gathered including private info such as their address and even what church they attended.

“I have been planning and wanted this my whole life … the help I need is too great and I would rather die,” read a diary entry by Yeager that day. “I truly enjoy the hunt and cannot wait for my prize.”

Chilling, isn’t it?  This shows you the risk that we as real estate professionals put ourselves in every single day.  We balance the fine line of putting our name, face, and personal details out there hoping to find our next customer, but that also means we’re putting it out there for the crazies to see too.

There is no perfect answer and I can’t sit here at my keyboard and tell you what you should do.  Our mission here at SaferAgent is to bring you the information so that YOU can implement what works for your lifestyle and take steps to cut your risk.  For this mission we’re diligently working on some new programs to bring you the absolute BEST in training and tools.

Keep an eye out for some big announcements coming soon, and in the meantime, stay SAFER!

Andy
